COOKIE POLICY

1. About This Policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used by this website, operated by Gippsland Land, Civil & Forestry Solutions. It is deliberately specific: it describes only what this website actually does, rather than listing technologies we do not use.

It should be read with our Privacy Policy, which covers personal information more generally.

2. What Cookies And Similar Technologies Are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device, so that it can recognise your browser on a later request. Cookies are commonly used to keep you logged in, remember a preference, keep a shopping cart, or count and profile visitors.

Related technologies do similar jobs by other means, including local storage and session storage (browser storage areas a site can write to), tracking pixels (tiny images used to register that a page was viewed), and device fingerprinting (identifying a browser from its characteristics).

None of the above is used anywhere on this website. The only cookies it sets at all are the two sign-in cookies in the private staff area, described in section 3.

3. Cookies Used When You Browse This Website: None

The public pages of this website are static. They have no login, no shopping cart, no user account and no saved preference, so there is nothing they need to remember about you between page loads.

Specifically, when you browse this website we:

• set no first-party cookies, and send no cookie-setting response header;
• set no third-party cookies while you browse (the only exception is a project video you choose to play, see section 5);
• write nothing to your browser’s local storage, session storage or IndexedDB;
• use no tracking pixel, web beacon or fingerprinting script.

You can verify this yourself. In your browser’s developer tools, open the Application or Storage panel and look at Cookies and Local Storage for this site. Both will be empty.

The one exception: our staff sign-in area

This website has a private administration area at /admin, which our own staff use to manage enquiries and update the content of the site. It is not part of the public website, it is not linked from any public page, and it cannot be used without a password.

When a member of our staff signs in there, two strictly necessary cookies are set on their own device, so that the sign-in works:

These are set only after a successful sign-in, only for the person signing in, and only on the admin area. If you are a visitor to this website, they are never set for you. They carry no analytics or advertising function, and because they are strictly necessary to provide a service the staff member has expressly asked for, they do not require consent.

4. The Usual Cookie Categories, And Where We Stand

Cookie notices normally group cookies into four categories. For completeness, here is this website’s position on each.

5. Third-Party Requests The Site Does Make

Although no cookies are set, loading this website does cause your browser to make requests to a small number of third parties. Those parties can see your IP address and basic browser information as a normal consequence of any internet request. We would rather state this plainly than imply the site is wholly self-contained.

These requests are a consequence of how the site is built and how the internet works. They are not used to track you across websites, and we receive no visitor profile, report or identifier from any of them.

6. Why There Is No Cookie Banner

A consent banner exists so that you can refuse non-essential cookies and tracking before they are set. This website has no non-essential cookies and no tracking at all, so there is nothing for a banner to obtain your consent for. The staff sign-in cookies described in section 3 are strictly necessary and are never set for visitors.

Putting one up anyway would be misleading: it would imply we were collecting something, and ask you to make a choice that has no effect. We have chosen not to do that.

If we ever add analytics or any other non-essential technology, we will put proper consent controls in place before it is activated, so that nothing optional runs until you have agreed to it. We will also update this page.

7. Controlling Cookies In Your Browser

There is nothing from this site for you to block. For completeness, every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies and site data through its privacy or site settings, usually per site. Browser help pages explain how for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge.

Blocking cookies and site data will not affect this website, because it uses neither. If you also block external font loading, the site will fall back to the standard system typefaces defined in its stylesheet; everything will remain readable and fully functional, and only the lettering will look different.

8. Changes To This Policy

We will update this page if the website changes in a way that affects cookies or tracking — for example if analytics, an embedded map, a video, a live chat widget or a booking system is added. Each of those would typically introduce cookies or tracking, and would require this page to be rewritten and consent controls to be considered.

The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent review.
